About Sailboat Bend

With boundaries of the Florida East Coast Railroad tracks to the east, Broward Boulevard on the north and the New River on the south and west, Sailboat Bend is a moderately sized neighborhood of about 500 homes. It is the only residential neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale to have been designated as an historic district and is also the oldest neighborhood in the city, with homes dating from the early 1900s to the 1950s.

It is a charming and eclectic mix of historic and newer homes and income properties, with the majority built as smaller, one-story, vernacular residences in the Bungalow, Mission, or Mediterranean Revival styles, as these were popular elements found in adjacent communities and throughout the United States during those times. There are also much grander homes to be found along the waterfront.

Sailboat Bend is a short stroll or bicycle ride to downtown, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the western end of the Las Olas Boulevard entertainment district with it’s many restaurants, bars and live music.
